Students at Tannum Sands State School have the opportunity to be a member of one of our choirs, as well as to learn an instrument.
Choir
Junior and senior choirs are two vocal ensembles that allow students to explore popular music from the 70’s through to present day.
Participation in choirs allows students to perform in front of audiences at assembly and various concerts around the Gladstone area as well as compete in competitions such as Fanfare and Eisteddfod. The Choir is available to students in Years 2 to 6 while the Show Choir is available for students in Year 4 and 6.
Instrumental Music
The instrumental music program enables students to learn an orchestral instrument in the brass, woodwind, percussion and string sections. Students are selected from an audition process and if accepted will be entitled to attend workshops with tutors, perform in front of audiences at assembly and various concerts around the Gladstone area as well as compete in competitions such as Fanfare and Eistedfodd.
Students are able to audition for the instrumental program during term 3 of each year. There are limited instruments for hire. For 2022 the hire fee was $150 per year. This fee covers the services of the instrument at the end of each year.
